International Rating Agency Moody's assigned ratings to Bank Vostok for the first time
18.09.2020

International Rating Agency Moody's Investors Service («Moody's») assigned ratings to Bank Vostok for the first time, including the B3 baseline credit assessment and a long-term counterparty risk rating according to the A1.ua national scale.

The agency notes the high quality of assets, good ability to absorb possible losses due to the bank’s sufficient capitalization and its good profitability, as well as high liquidity. At the same time, Moody's agency points out that the Bank's activities are carried out against the background of Ukraine's weak macroeconomic profile.

The outlook on the Bank Vostok's deposit rating is «stable», as well as the outlook on Ukraine's sovereign credit rating of B3. The outlook on the «stable» rating reflects Moody's view that the increased risks associated with deteriorating operating conditions will be offset by the bank's high level of liquidity and capitalization.

Moody's also points out that the bank's deposit rating for foreign currency Caa1 is limited by the «ceiling» of Ukraine's rating for foreign currency deposits.

The full list of the ratings assigned is as follows:

  • a long-term deposit rating in B3 national currency and short-term deposit rating Not Prime (NP);
  • a long-term deposit rating in Caa1 foreign currency and short-term deposit rating NP;
  • baseline credit assessment (BCA) and adjusted BCA b3;
  • a long-term counterparty risk rating in B2 national and foreign currencies (CRR) and short-term counterparty risk ratings in national and foreign currencies NP;
  • a long-term counterparty risk assessment (CR Assessment) B2 (cr) and short-term counterparty risk assessment (Not Prime) (cr);
  • a long-term deposit rating according to the Baa1.ua national scale and long-term counterparty risk rating according to the A1.ua national scale.
